Dr. Tarun Agarwal (T-Bone), Founder of 3D Dentists and I got to chat about how he got started in his business and the journey to get to where he is today. A practicing dentist, lecturer, CE Provider, podcast host, training center owner, T-Bone is constantly educating dentists from around the world when he’s not with his family in Raleigh, NC.
“As you taste a little bit of people starting to respond to what you’re doing, then you want to do a little bit more.”
After partnering with Dr. Sameer Puri in Founding Townie Meeting for the DentalTown Community in 2003, he found providing continuing education in the dentistry field was helping to change dentists' lives by focusing on education, entertainment, and camaraderie.
When he took a step back in 2012, T-Bone brought the principles he learned to 3D Dentists. Having just recently purchased a location for his new retreat center, he’s still following his heart and passion to see the dental community changed and inspired.
“I think some of the best learning happens in the classroom environment and some of the best motivation and inspiration happens in the community side of things...that’s really what the retreat is about.”
At every step, Dr. Tarun has placed his intention and sights on meeting people where they’re at and connecting with them on a deeper level. From building his team to how he approaches education, he strives to think less commercially and corporately, and more practically on how to engage with people.
“You can learn what we teach in a bazillion places...we’re all teaching from the same script, it’s whether or not people connect with you that really makes the difference.”
We also got to talk about his 3-tier approach to marketing, centered on looking past the typical lead generation setup and focusing on fostering relationships through clear and solid sales and follow-up processes.
“Marketing is not just the lead generation, it’s about all three phases of closing cases”
T-Bone is a firm believer in working on what you want to become - he’s got a solid system in place pointing towards people. If you aren’t sure if that’s the right place to be, just look at what he’s done and continues to do with that philosophy.
On a Friday night you might find him with good take out and finding new ways to get family time in, but if you want to know more about him, it’s over at tbonespeaks.com or 3d-dentists.com. You can also reach out to him on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn for any questions and some honest truth.
